Why GST number is Mandatory for Udyam Registration?

The Central government has introduced some specific eligibility criteria for classifying the enterprises as micro, small and medium enterprises. And, the Government has also notified about the form and the process of filing the MSME Udyam Registration, w.e.f 1st July 2020.
